AutoMsg is a simple program that allows your users to leave a message
to the next caller, or for you to leave a message to your callers that
they can't ignore, as it will automatically be displayed. The message can
be up to 3 lines, up to 76 characters per line.
You have control over what the minimum security level is required to
leave a message. The message will be displayed to all callers, irregardless
of thier security level. If they have the minimum or higher security,
after displaying the message, it will give them the option of writing a new
message, or quitting. If thier security level is below the minimum, it will
display the message, and a < ENTER > prompt. Once they hit enter, the
simply terminates.
Sysop Controls
----------------
F1 - Return User to BBS with a message stating you did so.
F2 - Return User to BBS without a message.
F3 - Toggle DTR, disconnecting caller.
F4 - Send User a bit of "Line Noise", then toggles DTR, Disconnecting them.
Installation:
---------------
Installation is pretty straight forward. Make a directory for the program
to reside in, and put the program files into it. All that is needed to start
the program is the .EXE file, and a config file(s).
Config file(s) look like so:
Joe Cool <--- Sysop Name <MUST match SF configuration EXACTLY>
Joe's Cool BBS <--- BBS Name
*********** <--- Registration Number <LEAVE BLANK IF UNREGISTERED!>
C:\SF\WORK <--- Path to SF work directory
F:\SF <--- Path to SF home directory <Node calling up the program>
TRUE <--- BBS has a color monitor <TRUE or FALSE>
50 <--- Minimum Security level to write a message.
<--- IRQ to use. <Leave BLANK if using a standard IRQ>
For multi-node systems, simply make up a config file for each node, and
give them different names. <i.e. automsg1.cfg, automsg2.cfg, etc.>
This door is fully share compatible, and should run just fine on multi-node
systems. The comm routines should also support high speed modems without
problems. Baud Rates supported: 300-115,200. Comm Ports supported: 1-4.
IRQ's supported: 1-15.
The last thing to do is install it into your SFLOGON.BAT.
Sample SFLOGON.BAT:
cd\sf\automsg
automsg automsg1.cfg
cd\sf
It's that simple to run! Just make sure to specify the correct config file
to use on the command line, and it will take it from there!
If you get a message you don't like, or would simply like to start it over,
simply delete the file called AUTOMSG.DAT. It will simply create a blank
one next time it is run. The door itself requires no maintenance.
